So, once you are ready then grab a cup of coffee because this will take around 15-20 mins.

This is what we will cover in this WordPress setup guide:

Step -1 Register a Domain Name (free if you follow this guide).
Step -2 Register a Web Hosting for the domain.
Step -3 Install WordPress from your hosting account.
Step -4 Change Blog design by themes.
Step -5 Adding plugins for better usability.
Step -6 Write your first blog post.

Now let’s take each of them one by one.

Step -1 Register a Domain Name

If I explain it in general terms, A domain is nothing just your website address. eg: www.google.com or www.spectramynd.com. This is actually your online identity by which people will recognize you.

It’s like your house number which is once assigned cannot be changed. If someone wishes to visit you they need to know your house number. Similarly, if someone needs to visit your website they need to know your website address i.e. your domain name.

So to book a domain name you need to come up with a unique name that represents your business or your brand name.

Also, make sure you look for a domain name which is available with .com extension. This will make it easier for the visitors to remember your website domain name.

A domain name may cost your around $12 to $14 per year. But will get it for free to save some of our initial investments in our blog.

Free Domain !!!, How?

Thanks to Bluehost. We will be using Bluehost to register our hosting (in step 2) and guess what, They will provide a free domain with every hosting plan.

Isn’t that a great offer to save on our initial investments?

All you have to do is use the link www.bluehost.in if you are in India or www.bluehost.com if you are outside India and then follow the following steps.

Step -2 Register a Web Hosting for the domain

Once you are on the Bluehost website. On the homepage itself, You will see how economic deal you will be getting.

1 free domain and hosting at just $2.95-$3.95 per month instead of regular price which is somewhere around $7.95-$15.95 per month.

WOW!! It’s way cheaper than my daily coffee.

As mentioned in the Step-1 we need to come up with some unique domain name that could represent our business, so that we can get a .com domain.

So once you are ready with your domain name just click on the link on the home page that says “Get Started Now

I would recommend choosing a plan with at least 36 months of subscription. This will save you some extra money and if in case you wish to discontinue in future, you will get a full refund of your unused plan.

Once your desired domain it available, just click on “next” and fill your account and payment details to complete the purchase.

Now as we have our domain and hosting booking done, It’s time to start installing WordPress to make our blog LIVE.

Earlier we need to download the latest copy of the WordPress from www.wordpress.org and then install it manually on the server. But thanks to the latest updates in the hosting control panels (CPanel), installing WordPress is now just a click job.

All you have to do is log in to your hosting Cpanel and look for an option which says “Install WordPress“.
